Research Projects

ITEC’s research projects consist of the following three main elements, 1. Market, 2. Organization, and 3. Society, as shown in the conceptual diagram ITEC in the Future on the ITEC’s Research Map and Organization page.
In studying the first element, Market, it is important to consider the future of technology and securities markets. Securities markets have been drastically changing due to the introduction of new technologies such as algorithmic trading and high-speed trading. In addition, major audit firms are considering introducing artificial intelligence (AI) into financial audits conducted by certified public accountants, who are considered “the guardians of the market.” Against this backdrop, market regulations are likely to undergo drastic changes in the future. We will analyze such changes by using economic experiments and other methods.
In studying the second element, Organization, we must think about the future of technology and corporate organizations. The possibility of technology replacing human jobs has been discussed in many research fields, and is expected to drastically change the meaning of organizations, along with the workstyle reforms and digital transformation currently under way in many companies. We will analyze this issue from theoretical and empirical viewpoints.
In studying the third element, Society, it is critical to consider the future of technology and society. Some researchers have indicated the possibility of new technologies affecting our social customs, regulations and ethical values, and studies of “social acceptance,” such as how autonomous driving will be accepted in society, have only just begun. We will analyze this issue from theoretical and empirical viewpoints.
Needless to say, these three elements are not independent; rather, they are loosely connected and intertwined with one another. We must pay attention to “trust” as the center of their relationships. To be specific, we will study these three elements in an integrated manner by focusing on the concept of trust, which supports collaboration between AI and humans in organizational, market and social settings; underlies future corporate organizations and economic rules in terms of relationships between AI and humans; and enables dialog between technology and society.
